Real Work-At-Home
Erin 6/19/08
Greetings everyone and welcome to The
Basket Case Gifts. I'm so excited to get this site up and running
and pray it will be a blessing to many. My name is Erin, I'm a
wife and mother of three who recently had to return to work to help
out with finances. It's not what I'd like to do, or what I feel God
has called me to do, but it is needed, so hi-ho it's off to work I go.
I realize there are many women in the
same situation, forced by their circumstances to make money with no
options available except a) going to work or b) buying into a costly
and questionable work-at-home scheme. I went through several schemes
like this myself before caving in and getting a real job. Then I met
Heather and between the two of us, we figured why not give women
something practical to do at home to support their families? No
buy-in, no scheme, no easy money, but real, practical work to earn
real honest money. Thus The Basket Case Gifts was born.
We now invite women to join us in
grabbing yarn and needle to create lovely, practical home-made goods
to suppor our families while being home to care for them. In many
more traditional countries this is the norm, but it is something
that has gone by the wayside in the United States, where mass
manufacturing has taken over. Our mission is to revive this practice
of Professional Homemaking and Homemade goods for the women who need
it, and the culture that will benefit from it.
So shop around! Take a look! Pass the
word! Support women around the country and join us in producing
fine, simple homemade goods to set yourself free from the office!
Love in Christ,
Erin
The Blessing of Work
Heather 6/20/08
Good morning my fellow keepers at home. I am Heather, the
2nd half of the original Basket Case Giftbaskets. I am the
mother of a teenager, oh what fun:)
I have worked both in and
out of the home since my son was young, and have been home full time
for the last 3 or 4 years. My family recently bought a new
house in PA, and with that purchase we need additional income.
I met Erin through an email group of devoted Christian women from
all walks of life, and we clicked. We both needed a way to be
able to be where God wants us to be, home caring for our
familes. I have been doing "old" arts of embroidery and cross
stitch since I was a child, when I was taught by my mother and
grandmother. In the past few years I have taught myself how to
knit, quilt, bake breads, make jams and preserve foods.
Everything that is hand-made by me was received with such
enthusiasm, that people where telling me that I needed to sell the
things I make...so here we are.
I have tried everything from
at home selling, to working just "part-time" outside the home...but
when you add that to the full time job of caring for your family, I
just could not make it work. Something was always
lacking.
This is not going to be easy, and it will
require hard work and commitment. But nothing worthwhile is
going to come easy.
Erin and I hope to help bless others with
this cottage industry by giving them an outlet for the old ways
blessings. And blessings they are, because they have been made
with quality and thought to long lasting endurance. More and
more woman are wanting to return to the "old ways". The days
when women provided for their families by working from home in
whatever capacity they had available, by the calluses of their
own hands.
If you have a quality product that you love to
make and want a way to honor your husband by helping your family
financially, and still honor the Father that gave us eternal life by
being at home raising your family and caring for what God has
blessed you with, please feel free to contact us.
Blessings,
Heather
